A Weekly Catechetical Resource

Daily Catechesis on the Way is a catechetical resource produced at Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church and published weekly since 2006. For nearly twenty years, this resource has served as a companion for the daily life of faith, guiding Christians through the riches of the Catechism, the Scriptures, the hymns of the Church, and the rhythm of the Church Year.

What Is Catechesis?

The word catechesis comes from the Greek and means "to sound down into the ears" -- to teach by repeating the faith until it is known by heart. Catechesis is not merely an intellectual exercise; it is the living, daily practice of hearing and learning God's Word so that it dwells richly in you and shapes your whole life in Christ.

From the earliest days of the Church, Christians have been catechized in the chief parts of the faith: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Baptism, Confession and Absolution, and the Sacrament of the Altar. Daily Catechesis on the Way continues this ancient practice by providing accessible, devotional material rooted in Luther's Small Catechism and the wider treasury of the Church's confession and prayer.

Daily Catechesis on the Way is available in two formats:

• Print -- A printed edition is also available for those who prefer to have a physical copy in hand for personal or family devotions.

How to Use It

Each week's edition follows the rhythm of the Church Year and the appointed lectionary, providing readings, catechetical texts, hymn stanzas, and prayers for each day of the week. It is designed to be used by individuals, families, and study groups alike.
