Welcome to Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church

He took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him. — St. Luke 24:30-31

Welcome to Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) in South Bend, Indiana. We pray that the Lord would - as He did to His disciples on the road to Emmaus - reveal Himself to you through the ministry of His Word and Sacraments here among us.

Who We Are

Since A.D. 1923, Emmaus has been a place where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is faithfully proclaimed and the Sacraments are rightly administered. We are evangelical and catholic in theology, and in practice: orthodox, confessional, and liturgical - by the grace of God in Christ. Our worship is rooted in Holy Scripture, bound by the Lutheran Confessions, and shaped by the historic liturgy of the Western Church. Here at Emmaus, you will find the timeless faith of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church delivered in Word and Sacrament for the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.

The Lord's House on Milton Street

Emmaus has served the South Bend community for over a century. We remain a place where the faithful gather around the Lord's gifts - His preached Word, Holy Baptism, Holy Absolution, and the Lord's Supper - just as Christians have done for millenia.

We invite you to learn more about our congregation, our pastors, and the life of faith at Emmaus. If you have any questions or would like to visit, please do not hesitate to reach out. We would love to hear from you.
